Materials that actually last in Toronto weather
Galvanized ($75–$150): rusts in 3–5 years. We only install these for short-term real-estate fixes.
Stainless 304 ($195–$395): the default. Lifetime warranty, doesn't rust, blends visually with any roof colour.
Copper ($500–$1,200): for heritage homes or where the cap is visible from the street. Develops a beautiful patina and is essentially permanent.
Multi-flue chase cap ($395–$850): custom-fabricated for prefab chase chimneys.
Why every chimney needs a cap
Without a cap, water enters the flue every time it rains. That water damages the liner from inside, drips down into the firebox, and freezes/thaws through the crown mortar.
Add animals: raccoons, squirrels and birds nest in uncapped flues. Add downdrafts: an open flue can bring cold air (or smoke) into the room. A $195 cap prevents all three.
What Toronto homeowners say
"Booked a sweep and WETT inspection before winter. Crew arrived on time, laid down drop cloths, and walked me through the report photo by photo. Fixed pricing, no upsell — exactly what was quoted."
— Sarah M.
"Cracked clay liner in our 1962 fireplace. They installed a stainless liner and new cap in one day and the draft is perfect. Warranty paperwork emailed the same evening."
— David R.
"Called for a raccoon in the flue. They removed it humanely, sanitized the smoke chamber, and installed a stainless cap. Fair price, no drama, and they even followed up a week later."

Frequently asked questions
How much does a chimney cap cost installed in Toronto?+
$195 for standard stainless single-flue, up to $1,200 for copper. Multi-flue chase caps run $395–$850.
Do I need a chimney cap?+
Almost certainly yes. Without one, water and animals get in and the liner life is measured in years not decades.
How long does a chimney cap last?+
Stainless: lifetime. Copper: essentially permanent. Galvanized: 3–5 years in Ontario weather.
Will a cap affect my draft?+
A properly sized cap improves draft (prevents downdrafts). Undersized caps can restrict it — we always spec to the flue size.
How fast can you install one?+
Same-week standard, often within 48 hours.
Do you do multi-flue chase caps?+
Yes — custom-fabricated to your chase dimensions. 2–3 week lead time for fabrication.
