Gas fireplace cleaning is not chimney sweeping
A gas fireplace doesn't need traditional brush sweeping — there's no wood creosote to remove. What it does need annually is burner service, valve testing, glass polish, log rearrangement and a combustion analysis.
A gas-appliance technician who is TSSA-licensed can do this correctly. A brush-only chimney sweep cannot legally service a gas appliance in Ontario.
What's included
Burner disassembly and cleaning — the burner ports clog with dust and pet hair, causing yellow flames and CO. Valve pressure test — verifies gas supply is at spec. Thermocouple check — the safety device that shuts gas off if the pilot fails. Ceramic log rearrangement — logs move over time and cause soot; we reset to manufacturer spec. Glass polish — removes the white haze from repeated heating. Combustion analysis — CO ppm reading confirms safe operation.
